SCHOOL VISITORS

Parents are welcome to visit our school at any time. If you would like to volunteer or visit your child's classroom, please call the school site office. Visitors must be identified prior to entering the front gate of the school for the safety of all students and staff. All visitors must check in with the office for a Visitor's Pass before entering campus. Small children, not enrolled in the school, create unnecessary distractions in the classroom and are therefore not allowed. Liability is also a concern, so please make other arrangements for younger children.

ATTENDANCE

Students must maintain a 90% attendance rate each school year (90% / 7th grade, 90% / 8th grade.) In order to maintain a 90% attendance rate, students may not miss more than 18 days of school each school year. This includes excused and unexcused absences and/or tardies. This does not include verified absences and/or tardies. Opportunities may be provided for students to make up missed attendance and/or tardies. On the promotion ceremony day, students who do not attend the entire minimum school day without a valid reason will be disqualified from program participation.

ATTENDANCE/ABSENCE PROCEDURES

In keeping with the established district policies, the following procedures were developed to handle various absences.

  • Any time a student is absent, communication MUST be received from the parent to explain the absence. There will be no exceptions to this procedure that classifies all uncleared absences as unexcused.

  • A student who fails to bring a note from home or have a parent call within 72 hours will be unable to change the unexcused absence.

  • When a student returns to school after an absence they MUST submit a note to the Attendance Clerk. Students are advised to arrive at school early to drop off their note to avoid being late for class.
